Everything is not exactly the same here...

I love the Art Deco District on Miami Beach. The buildings are from the 20's and 30's, and despite "Corporate America's" desire to tear them all down and replace them with homoginized cookie cutter style structures, these geometric beauties are being protected.

David and I recently spent an entire day walking the streets of Miami photographing some of the nearly 1000 deco buildings. I'm not very happy with the small photos I am able to post here at blogger, I.miss how easy large photos were at AOL.

Above is a collage of some of the buildings, if I can figure the larger photo thing out I'll post some individual photos so you can see the dramatic effect of shadow and light that seemed to be a design priority back then.

Coy! They're beautiful! I clicked on the photo and it put it at a nice size to view them! I love art deco as well. In my hometown the just refurbished a little theatre from about 50 years ago for community theatre productions and it's wonderful in the art deco style! I'd love to see what you are seeing now...but I will wait for more pics! Lisa

All people need to do is click on the photo to see it larger and it's a photo you want to enlarge!

The other way to size photos is use live writer - I LOVE posting through them instead of directly here on blogger. That site allows you to adjust the photo size according to the available space on your blog.

I actually like blogger better for photos - that is why I have my business blog here, people CAN see good size photos.

LOL! I popped over here to comment and let you know that as long as you upload the picture to blogger (picasa) then if the reader wants to see the picture at the size you uploaded it, all they have to do is click on it.... And, I'm with Monica, if you want a good way to change the size of the picute -in- the entry, Live Writer is a great option. PLUS, Live Writer is just a great little program for posting to your blog over all. Can you tell I'm a fan? ;p

BTW, love the pics. Miami has some really cool buildings!

I think obviously picturesque and historic neighborhoods should be protected. It is shameful to know about the beautiful buildings of the 19th and early 20th Centuries in New York City that have been torn down and replaced by yuppie towers. Cookie cutter architecture is one more thing depriving people of their individuality and turning them into crazies trying to regain it.
