I spent Valentines Day alone this year!
All week, I was reminded to remember my sweetheart on Valentine's Day! I was bombarded with ideas for choosing the perfect romantic gift and was offered plenty of advice on celebrating Valentine's Day without spending a lot of money if I was on a budget!Hmmm ... knowing in advance that I would be spending the day alone this year, I could have really lived without all of that media attention over the lovers holiday!
I'm glad it's over and have much higher hopes for next year!

I too, spent this Lover's holiday alone. I am so glad it's over too. I never used to feel this way about holidays.
You are too loved for you to have been really alone, Coy! That picture is beautiful!
xoxo
I, on the other hand, expect the worst. That way, if the fates allow and I am happily living in sin, I will be pleasanty suprised!
Don't hold your breath.
You find the most beautiful subjects for your pictures! I always look forward to seeing what pic you choose to use with each entry <smile> As for V-day {{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}

I too, spent Valentine's Day alone. It's getting so, that I loathe Valentine's Day. All day at work Monday, people were surrounded by flowers and candy, and HUGE oversized "I Love You" balloons. My mother took "pity" on me and sent me some roses. It really was sweet, but GOD, how embarassing when people ask who they're from. Oh well......and this too shall pass.

Love the photo. Is it an easter cactus?

You know what is worse than being alone? having people here and they are just going through the motions or not doing anything at all. My son was here for the first time in 7years and didn't bother to get me anything, my daughter spent it with her boyF. which is her right...So I went to dinner with my husband and granddaughter..which was nice but was done for the grandaughter BEcause her MOM never showed up she was in Hawaii without giving us notice ....So alone I am even in the company of 4...Happy Valentines.......
Media pressure is so intense to BUY for these holidays....that you can't help but question the sincereity of most of what is going on in "celebration" of the holiday. I was not alone...but I'm alone in my heart. So, what's the point of flowers?
I'm glad it's over too. My husband came home from work, plopped a box of cheap, yucky cream center chocolates in front of me (which I hate) and went on his way. I offered some to all the boys, then threw the rest away. Like Kat said, alone in the heart.... better luck to ALL of us next year. Hoping for not chocolate and flowers, but a heart full of love.
I'm glad it's over too. We don't make a big fuss out of Valentine's Day, although we did go out to dinner Sunday night.
Well, maybe you can spend it next year with a special person. I do hope so xxxx
VDay is very over rated single or not !

Well as you can see by all our comments, the grass is always greener in other peoples yards, with or without flowers and chocolates!! lol But in the end if we all have our health and loved ones in or out of our lives at the time, its still better to be alive than not!! I myself requested no candy or flowers. In the big picture,life is a gift and we should all celebrate!! As for your grass, its always lush and green and with gorgeous flowers. Happy Valentines Day Coy and remember love for ourselves is the best kind.
I hear yah girl! At least this year, my mother didn't send me a valentine because she knew it was the only one that I would receive. You know, just read a couple of the journals where the women are complaining about their husbands and you'll feel really grateful that you're single. It works great for me. :-D ---Robbie
Beautiful flower. What is it? Valentine's day is a day that companies advertise for in an effort to GUILT people (mainly men) into doing what they should be doing all year long! Drug companies and therapists benefit from this through the side effect of making those who are alone feel less than part of the general public. Please don't let these conglomerates succeed in the latter. You are special, regardless of what day it is!

Better to be alone, than to be stuck with one of the "beasts" that are roving the country. As a man, I am shamed by the conduct of so many others. rich
Your christmas cactus is beautiful.
Awww sweetheart. We always have ourselves, nature, spirit, the rain, dancing, music, creativity. Whatever. I hear ya. I'm not a fan of VDay either. Media hype about something that should exist all throughout the year. And they shove it in the "heart" of winter. What a great way to depress those with cabin fever even more huh?
I swear, I'm Sweetheartless this year but I had a better day than some of my coupled friends. It's better to be alone and happy, than to be with someone and be lonely.
::hugs::
Awww, darlin'.... I would have been your sweetheart!!! Would there be chocolate involved?? :D For the record, Valentine's Day is just as much a pain for those of us WITH sweethearts. Especially when you're on a budget. And especially when you've been married for 10 years. Who has time for it? LOL
I actually WISH I had spent it alone this year.. I have been back with Jose since my grandfather died.... I know, I know.. but sometimes, someone is better than no one.. especially when your options are limited.

Coy: V-Day has become like Christmas and all the other holidays, hype, hype, hype. An excuse to push people to spend money that they don't have. For once, this year, I didn't buy into it too badly, and didn't feel bad that I was alone. Well, better luck next year for ya...
Maybe Easter will be better :-) Albert
Me Too,,,, Great Pic!

Is that an umbrella cockatoo on your head? We used to have one, about twenty years ago. Hew as the sweetest, smartest bird I've ever known.
