Weekend Assignment

Boo! It's time once again for the weekend assignment!

Write your own, preferably rhyming, epitaph.  For example,

Here lies Jed,
He fell out of bed.

OK heres mine, I might feel differently tomorrow.

Here lies Coy
a mother, sister, daughter and friend
tried to hold things together for all
until the very end

She left Mandy behind
to pick up the slack
you can cry if you want
but she aint coming back

I thought I might skip this assignment, it seemed a little creepy but everyone else was being so clever I thought I would give it a try.

Poor Liitle Coy
Who misses Mandy.
Out on her own,
Livin is dandy!

Coy moved out
Sometime ago.
Didn't we all
We had to know.

And we found out
What life was about.
Discovered ourselves,
Without a doubt!

But, we all return
In time to Mother
At leaast for a visit
One time or another.

Rasing those kids
Was no small task!
Prompting the question
I must ask!

How could the children's
Blossom unfold.
Living at home
Where things are so old?

Go little Mandy
Go do your thing.
Make a name for yourself.
Let your song sing!

Richard

Reality check is sick and  should be removed immediately. Probably mentally ill.

Ok: Here's mine as only I could deliver it:

Michael is gone, ev'ryone rise
Flat on his back, and no one betwixt his thighs.
He died as he lived, just as he prayed,
He was just tossing off, not getting laid.

The Mourners come back thru thick and thru thin
Say goodbye to this man, as he won't come again.

God, that was dirty.. but hey.
I LOVED it~

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments on my morbid little poem, thanks to two of you in particular for going out of your way to write a poem of your own and leaving it here in hopes of cheering me up. It's easy to see that I was missing my daughter at the time.
I don't want any of you to think that I didn't notice that there was a little controversy brewing here in the comments, I am actually guilty of temporarily removing them yesterday and putting them back today. I don't think that censorship here is going to help matters.
J-land is a very diverse community and we do not all communicate in the same way. For those of you that know Michael you'll already know that his epitaph
was just part of Scalizi's game and was written in good humor and left here in attempts to make me laugh. It worked because I have taken some time to get to know my outspoken 30 something year old gay friend. I happen to admire his straight forwardness in writing about the life of a young gay guy and his alter-ego personalities (I love Dame Edna and Za Za.)  Thanks Michael.
I am sorry if anyone was offended by his comment or the "Probably mentally ill comment." This is my journal and I consider both of you my friend (of sorts) even though we have never met. You are both welcome here and no name calling please.

Great epitaph!!  I think this is one of Scalzi's best assignments.  I was just too dern busy to participate.  :(  I've loved reading everyone else's, though.  :D
