Where The Boys Are

I love when I read something here in J-Land that triggers a memory or inspires an entry. That happened to me yesterday when I read about a new friends recent trip here to Ft. Lauderdale.

In 1960 (2 years before I was born) my Dad was in the movie "Where The Boy's Are". Well ... he was an extra in the movie anyway! He was the really cute guy in the really great convertible (photo above).

Some of you might remember it was a movie about teenagers on Spring Break on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale. If you don't remember you can check out some clips HERE  <--

My Dad lives in New Orleans, I don't see him as often as I would like and writing this makes me want to pick up the phone and call him right now, but I won't ...

because tomorrow is Fat Tuesday. It's the last day before Lent and the biggest day for parades and parties for Mardi Gras and if I know my Dad he's out partying with the best of them!

                         Throw me something Mistah!

That must've been so much fun for your dad!  My mom was an extra in "Days of Thunder' with Tom Cruise.  No, she didn't meet him but, she had a blast.  Now I want to see if that movie is for rent anywhere, then I can say I read his daughters journal! :-)  Yeah, it doesn't take much to tickle me.

I looked at the film clips it's amazing how much I had forgotten but remembered after looking. my husband and I were extras in a movie about Jerry lee louis and Elvis. It was great fun doing that. I love new orleans and have had some great fun there but never been during Mardi Gras just to old to want to do that now lol

Wish we could go back to that simple way of thinking and living. Thanks for memories.

Your dad was a cutie!!  I've always wanted to do Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  My understanding is that you have to rent your room YEARS in advance.  Our old house was/is near Galveston, another big Mardi Gras town.  This was the first year we didn't do the parades, the beads, the boobs, the drunks.  Hell, we didn't even HEAR about the parades, the beads, the boobs, or the drunks.  LOL  Can't say I missed it too much.  But King Cakes.... now, those I missed!!  LOL
