Finders Keepers???

In my neighborhood there is always a lot of pedestrian traffic. People walking their dogs, mommies and daddies out with their strollers ... little ones in tow, women out walking in groups, families spending a little time together after dinner, etc.

You can't really get anywhere from here, not on foot but if you walk down the block and out of this section you can take a nice long walk exactly 2.3 miles in a beautifully  landscaped, well manicured park like square.

It's to bad that the developers here did not think to add huge front porches when they were building these houses, it would be so nice to sit out there and watch the neighbors stroll by in the evenings.

Anyway ... with all of the foot traffic here, sometimes I will find things in the front yard that someone has lost on their journey. I've discovered over the years, that if you leave it there for a day of two someone will usually claim it.

Not this time, I found the colorful splash bomb above on the front lawn on Sunday ... it's now Friday. I was really hoping that it's owner or someone that thought it was cool would have taken it by now. (It cant stay there forever.)

Every time I see it I kind of smile, a few years ago my kids would have picked it up right away whether they needed it or not and would have reminded me of the finders, keepers rule. Do any of you know the real rules to the finders keepers rule?

It's brightly colored and it's a splash bomb, to cute to throw away but this finder will be holding out for just a little longer hoping that a keeper will come along. I guess I'll give it until Sunday!

                                       Happy Friday all

We love splash balls!  Vibrant pretty colors on your find.  The rules I go by on the finders keepers depends on what the found item is.  Something like this ball, I'd leave for a day in the yard and then pick it up.  Jewelry, money...things of high or what I think would be sentimental value I would take measures to post.  I think you can safely keep this ball. :)

I think its only fair that you keep the ball. consider it justice for all the lost balls you had to replace when your kids were busy losing theirs and someone else picking them up and saying   " finders keepers, losers weepers" lol lol With all that sunshine down there I doubt if the lost ball owner will even think about it. We're gettin more snow here this week-end and they're saying something like a foot of the white stuff!! yuk At least there the ball had a chance to be found, if it were here, we wouldn't have seen it till summmer!!!

"Finders Keepers, Losers Weers!!" BUT, do you really want a SPLASH BOMB? What the heck is a SLPSH BOMB? rich

I say soak it with water and use it to surprise the next neighbor who strolls by!  After you have sufficiently soaked the person, tell them that it is their responsibility to take the Splash Bomb and "pass it on." Maybe in the game of "pass it on", there will be someone who gets splash bombed by it and says, "Hey! This looks just like the one I lost!" And there you have it!  Problem solved!  Seems like a perfectly entertaining solution to me, what do you think?  Good Luck!  ~Lifewrites

I never heard of a splash bomb before either. But if it is on your yard that long, I think it's now yours unless someone comes and asks for it.

I have a glider that came my way via finders keepers! I waited and then when I was sure, it became mine!

As a child, Finders Keepers was often heard in our neighborhood, no matter the item, if it was left outside, and was found, it was lost to the owner. That is, until a parent or two would step in on the larger items or wallets, jewelry and the like.
