I've always felt ...

that a man/woman's word is their bond. If you tell someone you are going to do something then do it. If you are not going to do it then you better give some advanced notice and have a pretty good reason.

For instance ... when you schedule a meeting, you are making a commitment to be there on time. If you are not on time then you are disrespecting the other person or people in the meeting, this is the same as saying that you think your time is much more valuable than their time.

     Any comment?

I fully agree with you if it be a stranger, friend, dr.'s appointment --anything if you say you will be there be there.   Sherry@>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I totally agree -  I have a family member with a habit of doing this, and I have heard that lateness / disregard for time is often a control issue and / or the sign of a completely self-involved person.

Absolutely!  I am crazy prompt.  And I HATE to be kept waiting.  I know I always start getting ready for something WAY early....because I think it's so rude to be unaware of time when others are involved.  On top of hating to be late....I also hate to have to rush.

as someone who is chronically always late...I don't do it on purpose to show disrespect.  and if the shoe were on the other foot, because I know I'm not intentionally late, I wouldn't feel they did it out of disrespect either.  I do know it drives people nuts though, and I try my best.  Most people who know me well tell me to be there 1/2 hour before everyone else, that way I end up being on time.  horrible time mangement skills I have...but do work on it.  so just another point of view....it probably wasn't personal on the person you had the meeting with would be my guess.

I am someone who keeps promises and shows up on time. I personally feel people who don't do the same feel their time is more important than mine - ie, it's OK if you wait or end up waiting for me and I never bothered to call.

People like me feel this way, and people who are always late don't - they say they are just busy or whatever, but whatever they are doing is more important than meeting me on time or they would be on time, allowing, of course, for emergencies.

My free opinion - worth what you paid for it!!

Don't ever live in Los Angeles. It's so common here to be late that I call it L.A. time.

I agree whole-heartedly with you though. My grandfather drilled into our heads that if you weren't five minutes early that you were late.

However, some cultures don't operate the same way and you have to take that into account as well. For instances, my latina college friend threw a party for graduation that said it started at some god-awful early hour of 4pm or something. When we balked she reminded us that it was Mexican time. It's customary to come later to an event. So, I was told. :-)

first, love the photo!

i agree with you.  if you say you will be somewhere or do something you had better be there/do it.  if you aren't then you should have said "i don't know" instead of "i will"

I am very noble in that respect. What I say, I do. If I can't then I try to find a way or let them know.
As for lateness, I am always late so, I don't say I'll be on time.

I TOTALLY AGREE ABOUT TELLING SOMEONE YOU WILL DO SOMETHING AND THAT YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND. I ALWAYS DO WHAT I SAY I WILL DO ALWAYS. BUT NOW I REALLY DON'T AGREE ABOUT IF YOU ARE LATE YOU THINK YOUR TIME IS MORE IMPORTANT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LATE FROM BIRTH AND WILL PROBABLE BE LATE FOR MY OWN FUNERAL. NOT AN AWEFUL LATE BUT AT LEAST A FEW MIN. AND I'VE NEVER THOUGHT EVER THAT I THINK MY TIME IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE ELSES. I JUST HAVE A TERRIBLE TIME GETTING MY SHIT TOGETHER TO GET OUT THE DOOR. I'M A WIDOW WITH A LOT OF LAND HOME JOB ANIMALS POOL YARD AND LOTS TO CLOSE UP AND GET DONE SO WALKING OUT THE DOOR IS SOMETHING THAT TAKES ME TIME. I AM GUILTY NOT BEING DISRESPECTFUL JUST PLAIN SLOW. YES AND I'VE TRIED GETTING STARTED EARLIER AND EARLIER BUT NOTHING WORKS. I HAVE JUST EXCEPTED I'M ALMOST PERFECT BUT NOT TOTALLY. LOL
