100 things #5 I prefer the word journaling to blogging ...

If I were making blogging wish right now I'd wish that blogging here was more like journaling at AOL.

Just put your lips together and blow ...

When AOL Journals was new and Dancing in the Rain was first created, it was like discovering a new art form. It was the art of storytelling … a daily opportunity to experiment with using words, pauses and rhythm together with the lines, shapes and color of my photos to enhance the meaning of the story.

I was mostly writing for myself back then but was also practicing using a minimal amount of information that had both a beginning and an end, to not only invoke an emotion from the reader but also a response.

Yep … I loved, loved, loved the comments in Rain every bit as much as I loved the stories, photos and memories of my life that I recorded there.

I hate that all of the photos are missing from the 500 plus entries I wrote at AOL, to me it makes all of the words seem so flat and has prevented me from getting as excited as I would like to about continuing my journal here. The main reason I didn’t just delete Rain is because of the comments, they are the only record I have of the sense of community we knew back then.

I started in AOL as well. I think the longer I'm here in Blogger the more I'm getting used to it. Try to think of it as just a bigger family than the one we had. (Hugs)Indigo

I didn't realize the photographs didn't transfer over, what a shame. I had deleted my journal as I didn't have the time or desire at the time to try to save it.

I'm with Indigo - it's a family that has grown in size. I've met some wonderful new people and some of them were with AOL originally that I didn't meet until the switch!

I miss it, too. And, like you, I prefer journaling. I think we might be building a nice little community here on Blogger, though.
