The Calm After The Storm

The day after Christmas is one of my favorite days of the year. After a month long frenzy of preparing for the holiday celebration, the day has come and gone and it begins to feel like the calm after the storm.

I usually seem to use this as a day of reflection on the year past and to anticipate the year to come. I drove to the beach today, it was warm and very windy here. (Heres a filtered photo of what things looked like here today). Our beach is still closed off for renovations after the hurricane but I did find some sand to walk on where I could breathe in some salt air and give thanks for the opportunity to live in my minds idea of paradise. (I love South Florida)

Later in the day I found myself reaching for some of my old books that are as comforting as old friends and I began to reread about the things I feel are most important in life.

My goals and commitments for the coming year are very clear ...  simplify, take charge, acquire happiness, cleanse regularly, maintain nutritional balance reestablish the habit of physical fitness, define my purpose and balance my life and my relationships with others.

I did a few weeks of cleansing diet early in the month, I also ended up indulging in the festivities of the holiday with the best of them (you heard our Christmas Eve menu) OMG that potato soup was absolutely sinful.

I'll be picking up where I left off and I'm preparing my self to make some serious commitments for the New Year, by this time next week I will be ready and hopefully shouting "BRING IT ON"

I live farther north than you do, but I agree, Florida is my idea of 'paradise'. I was out visiting my horse this afternoon. It was sunny and cool, but I was comfy in just a sweatshirt and jacket. I was a little disappointed in my rainy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but I've already blamed my nephew for that. He got a new dirtbike, so I am sure the weather was just so he couldn't learn to ride it <LOL>

The calm after the Storm. That is so true. I feel a bit shipwrecked now and will be glad to see the New Year in. No New Year's Resolutions for me though, I have a lot to face, so will be gathering my strength instead and just being thankful for life.
Take care, thanks for the trip along the breach.
Love Sylvia

I love the photo. I still have not made it to the beach but I am penciling it on my list of things to do this weekend. You seem to be focused and clear about your goals. I am your cheerleader. Here is a sample: Go, Coy, go!

The day after Christmas is usually a big shopping day for us. We round up all the cash we got during the holidays from friends and family and we go buy stuff.  Hel got his new MP3 player and tennis shoes.  I got a [more sensible] new desk and bookshelf!  My office is coming together - Thanks Mom and Dad!  LOL  Potato soup??  OY!  It's 3 in the morning here and I'm starving!!  LOL
