You know ... they say that the tradition of eating black eyed peas and cabbage on New Year's Day will determine your luck and fortune for the following year ...
What do you think a tradition of pizza, surf and seagulls will determine?
I spent a quiet New Year's Day with Mandy yesterday, we sat on the beach and fed pizza to the seagulls like last year.
As you can see, we were not alone ... the beach was the place to be, not the sunniest day of the year but it was warm and breezy. We didn't go in the water but a lot of other people sure did, I just love South Florida in the wintertime and ... I really love spending time with my little girl (she will be 18 on January 13th). That was so my kind of day.
Hope your 2005 is off to a good start and if you are one of the people that has stopped by here in the last few days to leave behind a good wish or a kind word, I want to say thank you. I really love reading your comments and I will be playing a little catch up in your journals this week now that our holiday celebrations are behind us.
Back to work for me today, I had 24 days off in December and I'm sort of looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of routine.

Hi,
I have been reading your journal I love how your new year's day was spent!!
That looked glorious I am planning on moving to Fort Pierce Florida in about 2 years after finishing my degree. You know anything about the city?
Great pics, Coy! It is unusually warm here on the Gulf Coast too. They are officially opening up all the beaches today (Ivan's debri cleared and shipped to Alabama!) so I am definitely going there this week before I go to D.C.
Coy - I can't believe I haven't found your journal before now. What a delight!! Thanks for sharing your new years day...and I hope feeding pizza to sea gulls is just the new years good luck charm you're looking for.
:)
All the best for 2005...

Black eyed peas and cabbage? Sounds nearly as bad as a Scottish haggis.
Coy,
I love that you and Mandy are close my only daughter is 23 now and we have a wonderful relationship. She truly is one of my best friends. We still have that Mother and Daughter thing but she tells me everything and its so nice when you like each other.
Hi Coy - I just started a journal today and saw your's being highlighted on aol. - sounds like you had a great entry into the new year! I've always wanted to live in Florida - we live in Hawaii...prob similar weather but culturally very different. Anyway - nice to read your journal...Lise
Sometime, in my life, I would like to either spend Christmas or New Year's or both at the beach. I wish our whole family would go! Too hard to break tradition. Except that I forgot to eat black eyed peas yesterday. I totally forgot. It was never the tradition growing up but it was in Hubby's family. I can't believe HE forgot. Oh no!!!! What if we eat them a day late?

We were in Jax over the New Years weekend, but the weather was anything but beach-weather. LOL A bit chilly. Still, it was nice. And I, of course, thought about you and Ann! Pizza sounds like a great New Years tradition, by the way. LOL Especially with so many of us making diet resolutions. :P
Thanks for the Pics, well, maybe in 5 months!
