OK, Ill stop now, I'm starting to feel like Ol' Bubba on Forrest Gump ... you know the guy with all the shrimp ... lol. Maybe you live somewhere tropical enough to grow these yourself or maybe like me, you have friends like Aubrey and Cynthia that grow star fruit and other exotic fruit in there backyard and they share :-)
If you have no idea what a star fruit is let me just say that they are a pleasure both to the taste and to the eye. They are a mild fruit and have a sweet but lemony taste, they have the texture of a not so overripe plum. Because of there shape these fruit look like little stars when they are sliced and that's how they got the name. If you've never tried them ... I would highly recommend that you do:-)
Happy Monday

Not much chance of having too many star fruits here, they cost a bomb in the supermarket.

Wow! I want to meet your neighbors! I love starfruits! I mostly put them in salads or eat them raw. The recipes are a welcome addition to my limited cooking repertoire.

Star fruits are so expensive here, never buy them. xxxx
We don't have star fruit here in New Mexico, but my step mom brought me back some from Florida one time after a business trip and they are to die for. They're so pretty too!!
Eat some for me, if you're not sick of them yet.

Wow, I guess I've never heard of the star fruit. Or if I did, I forgot!!!
I love star fruit - but never considered putting them in a recipe! We have to actually go buy them in a store, though. No tropical fruit growing in 7 degrees. xoxo
Mmm! The first time I had star fruit was when I was about 7 or 8...my brother picked them out at the store instead of kiwi. I've only had them in fruit salads, never really thought of them for soemthing else ;) I like all the avacado ideas with it...a healthy change from my bacon and avacado sandwiches :)
Take it easy doll

Star fruit are alittle pricey here too. Now pomagranates... One year, a neighbor gave me 4 paper grocery bags of the dear things.
I made pomagranate pie, drank pom juice, and snacked on them till everything in the house was stained. Now I am expecting the attack of the surplus citrus. Don't leave your car unlocked in Sun City unless you want a backseat full of grapefruit. :)) Thanks for the 'starry monday smile' Sharon of Phoenix
Looks yummy! I've never tried starfruit. I don't think I've ever seen it at our supermarket. *sigh* that the problem with living so far north.
Hi Coy! I've never had one, but this entry has me wanting one now. :o)

I didn't realize you could do so many things with star fruit! I haven't had one for a LONG time....well, actually, the ONLY time I've had it was in Home Ec because we were trying new things.
It is DELICIOUS though!

Hel loves star fruit [but I think he calls it something else.] Growing up in the Philippines, these were a local fruit. We only find them now in the Asian food stores. I don't think I've ever actually tasted one, though. I might need to do that!! :D
