Autumn

Ahhh ... Autumn in South Florida.

                                                        It's almost like ...

         Summer in South Florida

which is very much like ...

          Spring in South Florida

which is not all that different from ...

          Winter in South Florida

                                                                     LOL ...

I guess that is why many people call this the land with no seasons. Of course I am exaggerating a little, we do get slight temperatures changes in the winter but nothing to write home (or J-Land about). The winter photo above was taken on January 1st 2004, Mandy and I spent the day sunbathing at the beach and feeding seagulls.

I live in Boca Raton, in Spanish that translates to "mouth of a rat." To those of us that live here it translates to "paradise." Clean air, blue skies, gorgeous sand and surf Mmmmm ...  It doesn't get any better than this, but ...

I do adore Autumn Leaves and the crispness in the air that many of you are already beginning to experience. I will not be seeing that for myself this year so I will be living vicariously through you this fall. Through the words in your journals and the photos that you post.

Here in South Florida, fall also means the return of the snowbirds Grrrr ... that means horrible traffic, long lines at the grocery store and 2 hour waits at my favorite restaurants. Oh the price we are willing to pay to live in Paradise. Wouldn't have it any other way!

                                                  *** Coy ***

I don't even want to mention the storm that just yesterday was headed safely out to sea is now expected to pay us a head on visit on Sunday morning:-(

frank- having lived in central florida , orlando/orange county close to sea world from 1985 to 1998 ; I realized that while the seasons in florida don't change like where I am now In connecticut; in central florida they actually do somewhat. orlando area actually has a " fall foliage season" and if you drive around winter park's lakes , or better yet , out along county route 455 in the rolling hills of lake county near montverde-sugarloaf mountain-ferndale area, you will actually see the hickories, red maples,sweet/sour/blackgums,red oaks, and raintrees change colors! they don't too much, not like say new york or even north carolina, but  they do some. you will maybe see just 25% color in december but you will see some

My parents lived in central Florida and I loved going Feb/Mar ... mostly so I could see my beloved Manatees. :-)  Weather wise, I avoided SUMMER.  I lived in Sunny CA, so winter wasn't an issue for me.  Love the pictures.

LoL.. this is a lot like Texas. We just don't get the season changes like some others do.  I imagine it's even less pronounced for you and those in California, where the weather is ALWAYS warm. But we've had more than a few Christmas' in which we wore shorts. LOL  pathetic!  :P

LOL Coy!  Quite a difference from my photos the other day where you could clearly see we were entering a different season huh?!  I love Florida though....we spent a month in Daytona then Florida Keys (key west) a few years ago.......then did it again a few years later.....two full months down in Florida, just loved it down there......stopped by Tampa, disney and  loved the Everglades....I'll have to post photos of those trips one of these days.....  whatever happened to the carolinas getting all the hurricanes........you guys are getting battered this year....it's just not fair!

Oh, I can't believe that picture was taken in January! I just got my digital camera last night (I have never used one before so I hope I will do alright, I am feeling a little intimidated!).  When I get it working I will put some fall pictures in it so you can see some photos of fall if you come to my journal! -Krissy

Good thing you didn't mention that storm. I miss the change of seasons too. But, I find them better to visit then to live in. :-) ---Robbie
