I know that there are many of our neighbors that were hit much harder by Frances than we were but OMG look what she did to the trees in my neighborhood.
Not looking forward to doing this again next weekend. Heres to hoping that Ivan turns safely out to sea.

Wow...I'm on the other coast in ST. Pete...we had power outages, flooding but not too much of the winds thank God....I just wish winter would come sooner and get us out of the hurricane season....I like your journal...please visit mine at.. http://journals.aol.com/sdoscher458/IJustHadToLaugh
Oh my! That bottom left picture is tear-jerking. Poor trees. :( And what's this about Ivan? Who's Ivan? You CAN'T have more storms. You've reached your quota for at least a decade! Keep us posted. Be safe. Off to check FL weather reports ...
This looks like my neighborhood after Charley. : (
Just checking in with you to see how things went. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like it was rough! I need to see what Ivan is up to. I've not watched the weather. In Nashville, we did not get much rain, just cloud cover.

OMG!!! Horrifying!!!! I know you know I'm facing my own tree issues right now, but this is terrible! I can't even imagine.. I'm stunned... ::sigh::
After driving around for the last few days looking for ICE and FOOD...We have seen much of the same here in Marion County.
We have had no electricity for a week now and its not looking good for this week either. Pray that Ivan stays away! The state doesnt need anymore rain and wind!

I read on the 'net someone posted a comment about Floridians. I'm paraphrasing, but they said Floridians continue to move where they know there's a high risk for hurricanes, and yet they still expect the government to send aide when damage occurs. How can someone be so heartless? It must be sad to have so little compassion. I am a native Floridian, as is my Mom. I no longer live there but she and all my extended family do, and they all suffered with Frances. My mom has been without power since Saturday night with no near solution in sight. Anyway, my heart goes out to you. I'm not sure where you're from in Florida, but the devastation was over the entire state, it seems.
Sir: You live in a glass house. Whenever there is a firestorm in California, which is every year--and when the ensuing rains create mudslides-and take out homes built on hills--and those homes slide on out to sea--what is the tragedy? If you live the good life in Florida you're going pay the price, one way or another...In Texas I know there will be 100+ temperatures most of the year--and little rain, however I knew that coming in. Am I supposed to whine about heat and brackish water? Or petition congress for help--? Ciao....
Drydustytexan misses the point. When living in florida, we deal with the heat yes, but there hasnt been a hurricane hit us since Andrew in 92. Do you not move to California because of the earthquakes?
i live in florida to and i also hope it goes out to sea. i wish u the best of luck and my heart goes out to you and your family. tina<st.cloud, florida>
live in fla also and prayin it will turn this weekend..anyone saying we live in a glass house and somehow deserve this is an idiot...Its just one of the things about living here, and this is a record year, not typical
There is something about
An old Oak tree,
Uprooted and Down
For all to see.
A Century of shade
And nesting abode
Magnificent creation
Resting alone.
Replant and rebuild
Our task lay ahead.
Comfort our neighbors
and loved ones who dread.

I have friends and family living in florida. I hope and pray for you all. When I lived in Tampa I never saw this much distruction by one hurricane let alone three. Just be safe and call on loved ones if needed.
I NEED TO SAY HUMANITY IS INCREDIBLE THE MENTAL BOND WE SHARE.....THE SUPPORT, IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. MY HEART IS WITH YOU FLORIDIANS.

thank you for taking time to read this bye
I reside in Fort Pierce Florida. I have seen similar if not worse damage in my neighborhood. I live exactly a block away from the KMart they showed on the Weather Channel. All of the businesses around my house have severe damage. I personally went out of town for this hurricane. It was very odd because we didn't board our house up and we only got tree damage, and a couple windows busted out of my shed. The houses and businesses around me prepared and boarded up and they were the ones who got severly damaged. Mother Nature is a funny thing. We were without electric for about ten days, we still only have partial electric. No AC, no frig, no dryer, no stove and it is Sept. 14 already. I still am thankful that we survived. Our bestfriends house lost his entire sunroom and his roof came down into his house. Of course that was the house that everyone was at "staying safe" Thank God that they are alright. My prayers are with you Dave. Good Luck on rebuilding. But u know we will be there to help. Much Love to David Shaneyfelt and Fam.

Thank you to all of the supporteers and volunteers in our area.
I live in Cape Coral. When Charley came through I thought things couldn't get any worse.... Then came Frances and Ivan, and Jeanne is right around the corner. To those people who say we live in glass houses, I say to them tell that to the people who no longer have a home. Who no longer have the pleasure of sitting in front of there computers. To pass judgement on what we went through. I thank God that all my loved ones are safe, but not everyone was as lucky as I was. Hope mother nature blesses us for the rest of the hurricane season
I would like to thank all of you that have stopped by Dancing in the rain over the past week or so and have left your kind words behind. Many of you are my friends and many of you are people that I do not yet have the pleasure of knowing, thank you all.
I know that many of you are fellow Floridians and 2004 Hurricane survivors yourselves. The glass house comment from the Dry Dusty Cowboy was one that got many peoples attention and I don't want you to think that it went unnoticed by me either ...
