85 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky ...

I just love saying that this time of year ... because of the bright light in the winter here in South Florida, I may have a little less experience with Seasonal Affective Disorder <- click than some of you in other parts of the country.

Now that winter is starting to settle in ... I'm remembering how I wanted to share our blue skies and sunshine with you guys last winter as I read your journals and heard you describing S.A.D. aka, Winter Depression.

So ... I wanted to remind you early, that it's beautiful here this time of year. Mortimer ... from Mortimer's Cafe is coming to South Florida next week. YAY! I'll meet him and Chunk on Tuesday (can't wait). We are taking a day trip to SoBe (Miami's South Beach).

If you didn't already know ... South Beach is best known for it's Art Deco Architecture, turquoise water, white sand beaches, trendy boutiques, sidewalk cafes and oh ... let's not forget all of the beautiful people you'll find cascading up and down  Ocean Drive. (Hoping to have lunch there or at Mangos.)

South Florida ... good medicine if Seasonal Affective Disorder is what ails you.

I guess you don't get snow days down there....; )
No ice skating...; )
No sleigh riding...; )
No building snow people...; )
No peaceful walks on the freshly fallen snow....; )
We just have to pop those anti depressants & enjoy~

* Nice ...

I guess you don't get snow days down there....; )

* No snow days here ... but we do get lots of hurricane
days, .does that count?

No ice skating...; )
* Not unless you count the pantheres ice riink ...

No sleigh riding...; )
* No ... our winter sleigh rides are more like horse drawn
wagons through the park.

No building snow people...; )
* Does it count if they are made at the beach out of sand?

No peaceful walks on the freshly fallen snow....; )
* No ... we have to settle for walking on the sand at
low tide.

We just have to pop those anti depressants & enjoy~
; )
* Truth is I do love the snow ... just don;t get to see it often.
wouldn't mind trading places for a day.

'll be down in 2 weeks!...; )
* Really?

My brother lives in Jacksonville and delights in reminding us how NICE it is down there this time of year.  Constantly mentioning the convertable and wearing SHORTS!

It's ok Coy...I'll forgive you.  :)

Fortunately, I enjoy a snowy day.

Last time I was in SoBe, it was full of nursing home people, sitting outside on folding lawn chairs, watching the cars go by - that was a LONG time ago! I need to go back!

I'll survive the "terrible" winter here in Colorado, any day, over having to live thru "Huuricane Season" every year. No SAD in this guy, in fact, I love the changing seasons. (BUT, I must admit, that 85 sure sounds good!! LOL) rich

Sylvia ...
I don't think you are alone if you are one of the millions that suffer from SAD ... not to be confused with other types of depression (which can also be heightened during the winter months).
Most information available suggests that bright light therapy is normally the best for of relief during the gray months of winter. Heres wishing you plenty of light and lots of happy energetic moments this season my friend. Take care.

Truth is ... I wouldn't mind trading places with you for a day or two. I miss the changing seasons too, but love South Florida and wouldn't want to change a thing. Wishing you abundant food for the soul.  *** Coy ***
